Return of execution dates

[update]

A helpful reader has pointed out that Virginia scheduled the execution of Kevin Green (May 27) weeks prior to the Supreme Court’s ruling in Baze. As the reader notes:

Unlike most of the rest of the country, however, Virginia never stopped setting execution dates after the cert. grant in Baze. In February, it scheduled Edward Bell to be executed on April 8. A few days before the execution, Governor Kaine granted a temporary reprieve to July 24 because Baze was still pending. In March, Virginia scheduled Kevin Green’s execution for May 27. There was an indication that Green also would get a gubernatorial reprieve, but only if Baze remained unresolved close to his execution date.
